Too Busy

Life has been busy! School work, midterms, work. Just an entire mess of stuff to do. Life has been looking up though, I just downloaded a cost estimating program that has made my life complete. haha. It seriously was the highlight of my day. You can simply scan any house or building plans onto my computer and I can proceed to calculate all costs, including generic furniture and carpet samples. It is amazing! You can even calculate the estimated costs of labor and equipment for each unit of measurement. Pretty sweet!

This has taken up many hours of my week. I will do my homework assignments, but then find myself sitting there for an extra hour trying to teach myself how to calculate the rest of the project. We just had to do the insulation, roofing, doors, windows, and the counter-top schedules on this last assignment, but I continued to hack out the full electrical plan and the lighting schedule. I just find this intriguing. haha. Kinda fun learning what the cost of your curiousity is also. haha.
But the other things keeping my life busy... Work has been crazy with the weather like it has been. We made up 100 man hours in the last week, by working 1 1/2 crews to the bone. We picked up a few extra guys at work, and have just been cranking out the profitability. I have been ranked as the lone wolf, and always land the finicky jobs that only requires one person who knows what he is doing. I like it personally. I like to do stuff my own way and not worry about trying to convince another person how to think like me. haha. But overall, we are trying to get the big stuff finished before the weather turns sour.
Then we have the family. I have not seen them in almost a month, but I got to see them last weekend. Tessa had her All-State Honor Chior thing, and Mary Jo had her 4-H alumni banquet. So, we made the trek down to Sioux Falls and got to see everyone.

I Love NFL

I love the NFL. Sundays are my favorite day, just relaxing, doing some homework and of course, watching football. Ever since I became involved in the whole Fantasy Football world I have become addicted. I check my statistics almost everyday, and try to make trades and pick up some free agents, so I can increase my win to loss percentage. I am proud to say that I am number one in our fantasy football league. I have never been so proud. haha. What I really love about it, is the fact that I get to rub it in my brothers faces. (At least this year!! haha)

My apartment is a mess of random cheers, and groans on game day. We will all sit in our rooms, or the living room, with our computers and track our fantasy stats. You can always tell who has who by the reactions. This always makes for a very interesting day. And gives us all something to talk about during the week, not to mention the fact that it is the best way to get homework done.

I do miss sitting at home and watching games with the family. I was always just a comforting situation, and now with the new tv it aught to be amazing. Now all I have to do is convince mother to throw a Super Bowl party!! Any help convincing her would be great. haha.

And in the Red Corner...

Hi. I am Dirk. A college kid tryin to make ends meet. I am a full time college student and part time construction worker. Both of which I enjoy doing. I am an avid fan of sports, and pretty much any extreme sport or whatever gives me an adrenaline rush captures my attention.

I was an avid paintballer. My team started out doing a small 3-man weekly tournament in Luverne, MN. We quickly exploded into a 5-man speedball, winning machine. We traveled all over the midwest, tri-state area, and ended up finishing in the runner-up position. We fell into second place, only losing by 3 points. We had a total score of 997/1000. Talk about disappointment.

After shooting thousands of dollars down my barrel, I decided to try racing for a change of pace. My brother and I bought a hobby stock race car. We raced it consistently for an entire summer and did decent. After that summer, we just kind of lost interest in spending money, and not getting any in return.

And, that called for a change once again. This summer I conquered a dream I have always had. I bought a quad of my very own. It has brought me hours and hours of enjoyment, and the rest of the family also. They took it to Wyoming, and came back with one of their very own. Fun, Fun!

I am deciding whether to race quad motocross, or flattrack. It would be great if you guys could help me decide this factor. Any thoughts?
